NEO 3 on 3 team wins 2nd place at Old Town |

On June 20-21, 2009 the Old Town in Kissimmee organized the Inaugural 3 on 3 Hoop Showdown to be repeated twice a year. It was quite a success. It featured a number of 3 on 3 teams in various age divisions.
The tournament took place under extremely hot weather. There was no rain in Orlando for almost a week and the heat index reached 110F!! Players had to take all kinds of measures to try to stay cool.
For 14u age division three members of NEWEUROPE Junior Basketball (NEJB) Program contributed four of their players from Odyssey Middle School under the guidance of coach Eric Richardson. This was the first time such 3 on 3 NEJB team ever played anywhere in any 3 on 3 tournament.
The support for our team was excellent and we had a tent, chairs and coolers with plenty of ice, water, cold towels and other drinks. Co-sponsor Chris of the Socks Shop at the Old Town and the assistant coach Keon Johnson also helped a lot.
The NEJB Program members that played were Emanuel Premate, Josh Cruz, Kevin Tajram and Eric Richardson all attending 8th grade at Odyssey Middle School in Orlando. The Odyssey 3 on 3 team won five games in a row before losing in the finals in their 14u age division to a more experienced and older team of Westside Titans by 15:13 (free throws killed us), so our team won 2nd place in the Old Town Inaugural 3 on 3 Hoop Showdown.
We are looking forward to our 3 on 3 team participating in 2010 3 on 3 Hoop Showdown at Old Town in Kissimmee!!
